I decided to write a iHeater review because last winter, my wife and I had the misfortune of receiving a $500 heating bill for our home. Our eyes nearly popped out of our heads!

There is no iHeater Consumer Reports article to guide buyers. As much as Consumer Reports would like to test every quartz infrared heater on the market they just don’t have the funds or manpower to do so.

So one may be left scratching his or her head wondering, “Does the iHeater really work?” One may, however, find an article about the similar EdenPure heaters, which begs the opening question: “Are EdenPure Space Heaters Just A Lot of Hot Air?”

When tested, the reviewers were not so impressed, giving EdenPure a score of  only 24 out of 100. The temperature control was “lackluster” and “not particularly easy to use.” Had there been an iHeater Consumer Reports article, they likely would have noticed the tremendous difference between the two displays. The iHeater’s attractive-looking and user-friendly digital dial is a blessing by comparison. The iHeater remote control makes the space heater even easier to use, especially for people who like to be “masters” of their domain.

When reviewing the EdenPure model, Consumer Reports also commented that the old models were “pricey” and “lacked an overheat protection feature.” An iHeater Consumer Reports study would find that iHeater is less expensive than EdenPure and has important safety features – like automatic shut-off tip-over protection and reliable over-heat protection device.

Consumer Reports forewarned possible buyers about any claim that the EdenPure heaters can “reduce heating bills 50%” because this caliber of savings requires lowering the home thermostat 17 degrees Fahrenheit. One must also consider that there are electricity costs associated with operating space heaters. However, the iHeater costs less than $1 a day to operate, which provides a huge cost savings for people with out-of-control heating bills.

In February 2010, Consumer Reports comments that the new EdenPure Gen 3 Model 1000 space heater “improves upon the old design but still isn’t paradise in a box.” Perhaps they would have been much happier with an iHeater! Until then, we’ll await the iHeater Consumer Reports article to come out and settle the debate once and for all.
